cPanel login fails with invalid credentials

Fix invalid username or password errors when signing into cPanel.

If cPanel rejects your login, the issue is usually an incorrect username, the wrong password, a cached credential, or an attempt to log in to the wrong server hostname.

Common symptoms

  • "Invalid login" or repeated password prompts
  • Login works in one browser but not another
  • Login succeeds in the client area but fails at the direct cPanel URL

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Confirm you are using the cPanel username assigned to the hosting account rather than your billing portal username.
  2. Reset the hosting password from your client area or service management page, then wait a minute and try again.
  3. Clear saved passwords in your browser or open a private browsing window to bypass cached credentials.
  4. Use the official cPanel port and protocol, such as https://yourdomain.com:2083 or the service link in your client area.
  5. If your domain is not pointing to the server yet, use the temporary hostname or direct service login provided in your welcome details.

Additional notes

  • Password changes can take a short time to propagate through related services.
  • Some customers confuse webmail credentials with cPanel credentials; they are not always the same.

When to contact support

Contact support if the password reset appears to succeed but the new password is still rejected after repeated tests.
